Hi folks I am trying to raise awareness of the book I have just written about the lighter side of life in pipe bands. It is downloadable from Amazon to kindle. There is a free app from Amazon if you need to convert to another type of e book. Please support the cause made so well known by Fiona Morris who is joint editor. Here is the blurb. Read about the judge who got struck by lightning; the bass drummer who "threw" his instrument out of a third storey window or the perils of playing too close to the heavy events at a highland games. The book, entitled "A slunge in the bidet...and other stories from the world of pipe bands" offers an insight into the lighter side of piping and drumming. Amusing stories have been donated by a wide variety of people; players, judges and followers from around the band world including Canada and Australia as well as Scotland. All proceeds from the book go to The Bone Cancer Research Trust.

Will be in Hawick for a few days in July, would like to stop by band practice. I am originally from Hawick and live in the US. I am a drummer and I am the Drum Sargent for the Grandfather Mountain Highlanders. My father was Ken Swinton, he and Cammie were good friends.

I was saddened to hear that amongst all the greatness and celebration of your World Championship you have lost a great band member in Aggy Glendinning. As a retired bass player, myself (City of Washington), his story struck me in a very personal way. I send sincere sympathy and all good wishes to Aggie's family, friends, and bandmates. If anything, it seems that he passed on to 'the land of the ever young' in a manner that he could only have wished for- playing with the band to the end and seeing it get to the top of the grade. I beleive that he is playing yet, in that greatest of Pipe Bands to which we all aspire.
Best wishes to the band for continued success and many future World Championships!
Onward!
